Medicare Supplement Plans Kentucky

Kentucky Medicare Supplement (Medigap) is insurance that you can purchase from private companies that will help pay some of the costs that original Medicare doesn’t. Medicare alone doesn’t cover the costs of co-payments, coinsurance, and deductibles. For answers to questions about Medigap insurance or rate information, please call our friendly and knowledgeable team of licensed agents. Our services are absolutely 100% free. There is no obligation to sign up.
Medicare Supplement Kentucky is not the same as a Medicare Advantage Plan. While a Medicare Advantage plan is a way to get Medicare benefits, Medigap only supplements your original Medicare plan. Medicare will pay for the Medicare-approved share of health care costs and the Medigap policy will pay its share.
Kentucky Medicare Supplement helps pay Part B bills The Medigap insurance company will receive the Part B claim information from Medicare and then pay the doctor directly. This is also the same service for Part A claims.
Some Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) can cover services that original Medicare doesn’t offer, like medical coverage when you travel outside the U.S.

What Do I Need to Know about Kentucky Medicare Supplement Insurance?

In order to enroll, a participant must have Medicare Part A and B. Medigap policy coverage is for one person, only. For married couples, each spouse will have to purchase a separate policy.
Premiums can be paid monthly in addition to the Part B premium paid to Medicare.
Medigap policies don’t include prescription drug coverage. Participants may enroll in Medicare Part D if they want prescription drug coverage.
Participants may apply for Medicare Supplement Kentucky if they have a Medicare Advantage Plan. But, they must leave the Medicare Advantage Plan before the Medigap insurance policy takes effect.

Medigap policies usually don’t cover long-term care, vision or dental care, hearing aids, or private nursing care.

When Can I buy Kentucky Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap)?

When a participant is first eligible for the 6-month Open Enrollment period, it is the best time to buy a Kentucky Medicare Supplement policy. This period begins the month the participant turns 65 and enrolls in Medicare part B. During the Open Enrollment period, even clients with health problems can buy any Medigap insurance sold in their state at the same prices as those in good health. Once the Open Enrollment period is over, medical underwriting guidelines may apply.
After the Open Enrollment period, eligibility may be determined by compliance with the private insurance companies’ medical underwriting requirements for Medigap insurance. Certain exceptions may apply.

Will Medicare Supplement Kentucky work with Medicare Advantage plans?

Kentucky Medicare Supplement (Medigap) will not work with Medicare Advantage Plans. For participants of a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C), Medigap insurance can’t be used to pay co-payments, deductibles and premiums of a Medicare Advantage Plan.
Contact your Medicare Advantage Plan if you want to switch back to original Medicare and buy Kentucky Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap).
Will Medicare Supplement Kentucky Cover Medical Expenses During Foreign Travel?
